Apocalyptic Open Cycle

Our friends at Above Category in Saulsalito, California sent us this Open and wanted something that looked like it had been had been left in the desert for a decade or so. Also, make it blue.

After looking at junk cars, rust spots and scrap metal we came up with this. Plenty of thought went into what the base colour might look like peeking through the blue top coat and then we constructed some paint build up and worn out areas and had some fun slowly adding, removing and adding more paint layers to get a killer finish. The interesting part about a project like this is that we can do our best to create a look but it’s not really done until the customer takes the bike out and gets it dirty, after all there is only so much fake wear you can put in a paint job.
