Colnago C60 Mapei Edition
The iconic Colnago Mapei paint scheme of the late 90’s is a frequent request for us. This one however is the first we’ve ever done.
The Colorado based shop Nice Bike got in touch to see if we could handle a paint job like this. Of course we said “No problem.” We started from scratch here and recreated all of the graphics from images we compiled of some of our favorite versions with the specific focus being Johan Mewseeuw’s Paris-Roubaix winner of 2000.
Every detail was closely examined and painstakingly recreated. Hours were spent preparing the frame set before the tinted clear coats, base colours and fading were carefully applied. Our designed and cut paint masks were wrapped in layers in order to build the more complex graphic details each getting individual attention in colour and specific fade additions.
In addition to the frame set we prepared and added special details to the handmade carbon stem and seat post with unusual paint treatment on a set of Lightweight Carbon wheels.
60 hours were spent start to finish on this project and we believe it to be one of the best and cleanest Mapei paint schemes ever created.
