Mechanical Services
VéloColour now offers full mechanical services in conjunction with our custom paint work. This is an added feature for customers getting their bikes custom painted with us.
What’s included in the package?
Discussion of desired additions, alterations or replacement parts before we begin. This allows us to better integrate the paint scheme in to your existing build while the bike is fully assembled, and consider small parts that could be painted to match – like the handle bar, stem and seat post.
The complete disassembly of your bike
Parts are fully cleaned and checked for function and wear
Replacement parts will be recommended where needed (though we do our best to keep your existing parts in service)
After the paint process, your new bike is carefully rebuilt, tuned and set-up for you by one of Toronto’s best mechanics
VéloColour’s basic frame protection kit as well as the application of the chain-stay protector and smaller protection pieces is included in all of our build packages. Larger packages can be included and applied upon request.
Pricing:
VéloColour provides painting and mechanical services for all types of bikes — everything from road and gravel bikes to mountain and commuter bikes. The exact pricing for our mechanical package will vary from project to project depending on the specific details. General pricing can be divided between mechanical (cable actuated) and hydraulic braking, internal and external cable routing and mechanical or electronic shifting.
Full mechanical braking and shifting with external cable routing: Starting from $480
Internally routed, hydraulic braking with electronic shifting: Starting from $650
Prior to the start of your project let us know the details of your frame and we can get you an estimate. It might be stating the obvious, but the reassembly of a track or single speed bike should vary significantly in price from a full suspension mountain bike or internally routed, electronic road bike.
Notes about the process:
Replacement parts will be recommended where needed. We typically recommend replacing brake and shifter cables along with cable housing and bar tape during this process. If these parts are in new or good condition we will reuse them where able.
Our standard process includes a drive train check. Chains and cassettes are high wear items and will be assessed for replacement.
If you would like your wheels and hubs inspected and/or rebuilt we are happy to add this to the job list.
VéloColour has an extensive parts supplier list and can offer many new parts for your rebuild/repaint. For the parts that will be included in the paint process we recommend arranging ahead of time to avoid potential slowdowns in the process.
If you’ve sourced new parts to upgrade your bicycle we will happy to include them in the rebuild. Any additional fitting involved will be charged at an hourly rate of $120.
